  • Bassman Clone Volume Issue

    Hi everyone,

I built a bassman clone a while back off the blackface schematic. It only includes the normal channel, but I added the extra gain stage so it is similar to a silverface in that regard (where the normal channel was just as loud as the bass channel).

The clone is much quieter than my silverface bassman, which is the problem I have. I hooked the preamp of my clone into the power amp input of the silverface I own, and it works fine... so the problem is narrowed down to the power amp.

I've gone over everything a hundred times and it looks correct, but I'm still not sure what could be causing it. Voltages look pretty good in comparison to the schematic, so I'm confused as to what it is.

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Double check all the resistor values in the phase invertor. If the resistor to ground is for example, 1k instead of 10 or 100 Ohms that will kill the gain. Check the grounds while your at it.
