  • 1n4007 for 290V tranny ??

Would these be the right choice with said tranny ? I also have some 1n5437's as well, which would be best. Its an EL-84 18 watt variant.

1N4007s should work fine in the power supply rectifier circuit for your application.
The spec sheet for the 1N5437 says that it is a "General Purpose UHF-MW Mixer Diode" so it is not suitable for your guitar amp power supply.
    Cheers,
    Tom

Thanks Tom, it seems like they're using alot of different diodes now-a-days.

Yes. There are many different types of diodes. The 1N4007 is a common rectifier diode and is a type that guitar amp techs would be familiar with.
