5e3x2 Question

Recently completed one of Bruce's 5e3 chassis kits running through a Red Fang, sounds amazing. Built it stock first, time for mods which I just ordered from Bruce. Great kit and a fun build. My question is....

I am going to be starting a Weber 5e3x2 build soon and was curious if it suffered the flatulence problem as the 5e3? If so, would the same mods recommended for the 5e3 take care of business? Thanks!

The mods I do to the 5E3 (clones) will work on any vacuum tube amp that uses the same topology as the 5E3 or any Fender tweed amp style with two volume controls and a single tone control.
The way to make the 5E3X2 sound less flubby is the same as the 5E3 but you have more to work with when building X2 because the higher power level, larger power tranny and hopefully a more robust output tranny.
I can not vouch for any of the transformers, vacuum tubes or hardware issues with respect to the VST kit. They really are based on a fairly low price point so you might have some upgrading to do.
The 5E3X2 (and most all others) is a class AB1 amp.
However, when you are done, a good mod is to change the cathode bias to fixed bias and idle the four power tubes at around 9-10 watts each.

Thank you. Right now plan is to put'r together stock then mod from there. I did read some previous posts where you mentioned the possible weak spots being cheaper power and out put transformers. I will definitely look into those upgrades after I get'r goin'. Thanks for the info...
