  • monoblock to 5E3 mutt

This started as a hifi chassis of unknown make (although it did have a couple of Baldwin branded tubes) that someone had previously modified slightly to use as a harp amp. After reading this forum and noticing that the amp had the right basic stuff for a 5E3, I gutted it and turned into a 5E3.

Doth this pleaseth the tweed gods or make them angry?

It sounds awesome, and... No hum!

I say, if it doesn't please them, turn it up to 12!

      Hello Otto,

Nice build, It seems that many here want to have an exact replica of the original, warts and all. I am in the process of doing the same thing you are, taking a 6V6 PP PA and converting it to 5E3 circuit. Don't get me wrong, I think the original Deluxe is a fine looking amp, but really, any time you have the tubes hanging upside down in the field of sound, IMO you are just asking for problems.

What cabinet are you running with it?
