Hi all,
I picked up a 1959 5E3 last week from a freind here in the UK.
Original apart from the front and sides has been professionally recovered.
Fully serviced, I got it home and plugged my Neil Young LP in.
This is a Tom Murphy aged 56 Custom Authentic. Fire Bird and chrome P90.
I had been playing through a Hot Rod Deluxe, with the help of a Tube Screamer, I thought I had a cool tone until I plugged into the 59.
WOW, I played my Stephen Stills White Falcon through it and clean it
was awesome, can it get and better... Yes.. the LP was crazy.
I played it mainly clean for a few day's, brakes up around 2.5-3 vol.
Just the tone I have been searching for !!!!
I just had to crank it up, at 7 Tone, 7 Vol, 3 Mic. the LP was nearly
jumping out my hand's.
Down by the River , Love to Burn, I have NEVER ever heard anything like it.
I was shaking after playing )
The same evening I wanted another fix, 10 minutes is all I got and the speaker said. NO WAY.
I'm gutted..
What is the best thing to do, recon or find another original P12R.
Reading up here I'm afraid the same will happed again,
I have fitted a 2005 Jenson C12Q for now. OK but just not the same..
Love to hear from any other 5E3 owners, especially you Neil Young fan's..
Thanks
