hey man, this is a simple mod and I might want to try it. But what exactly does it do?

I have seen two different explanations of the mod, and I chose the simpler of the two. I just put a switch on the 25-25 electrolytic cap on the second tube (the stage right before the phase inverter). The mod switches it off, and stock is with the switch on.

There is a more complex variation I have seen, though it's still relatively simple. It involves removing the 1500 ohm resistor from the phase inverter (second stage of the second tube, and running the remaining resistors, the 56k and 1M to ground).

I honestly don't know the diff between the two and haven't tried the second. It's a simple mod, but you know what? I never use it anymore. I don't need the headroom. To me, it takes away some of the amp's dynamics. But I have heard it's helpful at shedding some gain if you have to use a 12ax7 instead of the 12ay7 in the first slot.
