  • How to get rid of the fizz in 5E3?

Does anyone know of any mods to reduce the fizzy breakup of the 5E3? I know that it's part of the 5E3 tone but I'd like to reduce it.

    Thanks in advance
    Rob

Is it a homebrew or someone's kit?

Bruce, a friend of mine built it, it's not a kit. It's got JJ6V6's, an EH12AY7 & a JJ12AX7. The OT is a generic Fender 25W for Deluxe / Reverb. It's got the 'defart' mod done to it to reduce flubbiness. I'm using a Red Fang as well.

Would the PaulC mod help, or what about increasing the filtering?

      Thanks Rob

        No to both questions.
My first guess would be too high of plate voltages on the preamp tubes and subsequent "gain".
Can you give more info like the measured voltages on the plates and cathode of all the tubes... etc.

I'll get back to you Bruce once I measure the voltages.

BTW waht should be the correct cathode & plate voltages to the tubes?
