  • Power Transformer Blown?

My 5E3 is blowing fuses. I removed the 6V6's and it still blew the fuse. I removed the 6V6's and 5Y3 and it still blows fuses. My amp has a standby and the fuse is blowing before I even engage the standby. I am assuming the only things left are a bad power tranny or a filter cap. Any thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Tim C.

"I am assuming the only things left are a bad power tranny or a filter cap. Any thoughts?" It could only be a bad main filter cap if the filter cap connects to the hot side of the standby switch?

Check for shorts in the heater wiring.

Disconnect & isolate ALL primaries, if it still blows fuses, then yes it's the PT.
