  • 5E8 5D8 output transformers

    Hello

does somebody know the primary impedance of 5E8 http://www.schematicheaven.com/fenderamps/twin_5e8.pdf and / or 5D8 http://www.schematicheaven.com/fende..._5d8_schem.pdf output transformers ?
In theory it is 6K6 but it seems that Fender used 4K2

Thank you very much in advance

    Regards

Well I don't know exactly but, yes a primary Z of around 4K/6L6 (+/- a couple of hundred ohms) is typical for Fenders (few mainstream guitar amps run 6L6 into a primary as high as 6.6K, this is nearer what a Deluxe Reverb runs with 6V6). "57 Twin"/5E8A OT might be a good choice.

      Hello

      thank you MWJB.

I would like to build a 5E8 or 5D8 (the difference is 40W or 25W), for output transformer, I think to use Hammond 1750M or 1750J (easy to find in europe) but if you have one to recommend ?

I search the cabinet plans of 5E8 if someone could share it with me

      Thank you for all

      Regards

      Pascal

1750M, or a Fender 57 Twin OT, depending on how quickly you can get Fender spares in your part of the world, also see what Mojotone have re. "Low Power Tweed Twin".
