    Hi:

Thinking about building a 5C1...........I see that the 6SJ7 is available in both metal & glass versions. Which one do you guys recommend for this amp???

    Thanks.

DTJacob, I recently rebuilt a 52 Gibsonette which uses a 6SJ7 preamp tube. I tried three different glass ones and two metal ones(I have shelves full of tubes and like to sit and try different ones), and I liked the sound of the metal ones the best in that amp. However, I read about a heavy duty version, CRC-5693, that comes in a red can and I really like the sound of it, so it stayed in there (for now).
You can usually pick up 6SJ7s on ebay for a reasonable price. Buy a few cans and botlles and experiment. But do try a CRC-5693.

      Hi:

Thanks for the info. - due to the number of replies I received on the Weber forum, I have purchased both a 5693 & a NOS 6SJ7GT. Will try them both & see what happens.

      Thanks Again!!!!
