    Hey guys

So I have been chatting to a local guy about building a 5F1 replica.. Long story short, he informed me that with a sufficiently sized OT, I can use a 6L6 or 6550 in place of the stock 6V6gt.

Is this true? He was supposed to send me a 15watt tranny with taps for 4,8,16 ohm speakers, but he forgot the taps.

Do I have anything to worry about?

I am pretty new to amp design, and building at that so I will appreciate any advice.

    Thanks
    Mike

Depends how high your plate voltage is, but a single ended 6550 could use 2k - 4k load resistance depending on the plate voltage. You can probably get that on the OT you have already got by changing the speaker load so that it reflects 2k or 4k
