hi guys,

I'm about to build a deluxe 5e3.
Since I have a jensen c12r 4Ohms from a vintage cab I was wondering if it would be a good idea using an output transformer with 4ohm tap and use that speaker.
Has someone tried this? What to expect about sound?

You really should not mismatch the OT and speaker too far if trying to stick with a classic or vintage sound.
Not sure who's amp kit you are building of if your are sourcing parts on your own but.... there are a few kits and vendors out there that have the 5E3 OT made with 4 and 8 ohm taps.
Just use one of them and your 4 ohm C12R.

I'm sourcing parts. I'll buy a Output Transformer with both 8 and 4ohm taps. So if I'm disappointed with the result I can always stick the original/best speaker in it.
