5f4 build ?

I'm about to start a super tweed and the schematic I have calls for a selenium rectifier. Is there something I can use instead of this?

I see that ceritone uses one 1n4007 on their schematic,so is this ok?

1N4007 is 1,000 PIV and 1A, so a single diode should be fine as the bias circuit is only around 50V, right? As you noted, ceriatone uses just one in this application. Anything more is probably overkill, but you can read here about diodes in series and snubbing with caps if interested:
