  • labels fo my aluminum tweed chassis

Does anyone sell number-labels that surround the tweed knobs?

no, but there have been complete reproduction face plates that look like originals.

I've used dry transfer lettering (Letraset). After applying it, a mist over with acrylic lacquer from a can makes it more durable - certainly no worse than the silkscreen-on-chrome original.

Getting the alignment can be tricky, but I've seen a really nice 5E3 done this way.

OK! Ya, I have LOTS of dials on this chassis~ I could at least put a bunch of dots around each knob and paint-over like you said, Mick. Thanks!!

When I've had a tricky Letraset job I print up a transparent template on acetate (either inkjet or laser) to get the layout correct and then hinge it in position with masking tape. You can then use it as a flip-up positioning guide.
