what switch should i use? will a carling 110-73 typically used for power and standby be ok?

Try it both ways. I did one between the cathode and the NFB resistor. It gives a slight pop but seems to work fine. If you want to get rid of the pop, maybe try taking out the single NFB resistor and putting two smaller values (that add up to the single NFB value) in series and put the switch in between them.Building a better world (one tube amp at a time)

id like to put a mini toggle right next to the presence pot, so in the circuit the switch would be between the 1500, 56k node and the pot. or a regular one in back wich i would place between the 56k and the speaker jack. it looks like either way would work unless im missing something. maybe one way is safer than the other? not sure.
