  • 5G9 Speed control

Anybody tell me whether 2M5 antilog pot will do for the speed control? I can't obtain a 2M antilog pot, but I've got a NOS 5M dual-ganged antilog pot, which I thought I couldwire up in parallel. Would I need to make any changes to the trem circut if I used 2M5 RA pot? Or should I try and parallel one of the 5Ms with a resistor (to get closer to 2M) - albeit that the taper will change?

2.5M reverse log should work fine. This oscillator is essentially the same as in virtually every other Fender amp. The value of the speed pot varies over the years, with later models using 3M reverse log.

The 100k resistor in paralell with the wiper makes the taper slightly to the reverse log direction (the original pot seems to be linear). So if you're using a reverse log pot, you may want to put the resistor in series with the speed pot instead (like in later Fenders).
