You'd want a 6SL7 for a Champ type build....gain of 100... a 12AX7 work alike.

6SN7 only have a mu of 20, AFAIK they' re more close to 12AU7s, ( lower gain and plate resistance and higher plate current and max plate dissipation than 12AX7s ).
