  • 5F6A grid resistor

I know most fender amps used a 1.5K resistor connected to the power tube grid. I've also seen a schematic for the bassman reissue with a 47 ohm resistor on pin 5 of the power tubes. Has any one had to use a grid resistor on their 5F6A amps?
    What values?

I'm building a 5F6A from the original schematic and there are no grid resistors in series with the control grids.

I looked at Hoffman Amplifiers 5F6A diagram and it has 1.5K resistor connected to pin 5.

The Fender 5F6A doesn't show the 1.5k grid resistors, but the Fender 5F6 does as well as a few earlier versions. The versions after 5F6A lack the resistors until you get to the AA165 and then they are back to stay.

Grid stoppers are sorta like seatbelts. When you don't need them they seem superfluous, but when you run into the situation where they are needed, then you wish you had used them.
