  • Fender Super Champ X2 channel push/push switch defective

Hello fellow Members, long time no see...

on my desk is a Super Champ X2 where the channel (push/push) switch doesn't word like it should. The channel switching works fine with the foot switch.
While in the 1st (clean) channel I can push the button on the amp and the indicator light of the 2nd channel comes on. The amp plays in the second (16 voices) channel as long as I hold the button down. As soon as I release the button it comes out again, the light goes off and the amp goes back to the 1st channel.
I have a second amp of these and found that the push/push button should stay "in" when switched to the 2nd channel.
Is this a common fault of these amps?
Can the switch sort of " be repaired" without pulling the pcb? (maybe some lube or so?)
    I'd appreciate every comment.
    Thanks in advance

    Matt

Deoxit is worth a try, as is resoldering the contacts. But you may need to replace. You can certainly determine whether it's doing its job by using your multimeter.

Well, it's doing it's job partly.
The channel switches when I push the button.
It just doesn't stay this way. If I let go of the button, the channel switches back.

It sounds to me like the switch isn't latching. It might be best to just replace it.

          The switch has failed.

That's what I thought in the first place. Just wanted to make sure.
I've already ordered a new one at my local music store.
Thank you all so much for your contribution.
