  • Fender Super Champ XD No sound or Ch. Light

Amp was brought in with no sound and no ch select ligfht working. When I first checked it, the power light came on and the input selector did not turn the ch. light on. I see the input is going to 'Mute' on the DSP, so I plugged in a cable and the ch. select worked and sound came on.
I then unplugged the cable and the amp worked. Later, It was off again until I plugged in a cable to the input again. Might be coincidence, but would the DSP Mute have anything to do with the Ch Select not lighting? I know the selecting goes to the DSP as well.

I don't have a footswitch for it, but TP10 and TP11 are good for the FX on, even with the sound off.

    Thanks

Thought I would post the fix for this amp. I started probing around on things and found the ribbon cable from the main board to the DSP board caused the amp to work and not work. I checked the cable, it was good. I re-flowed the header pins on the PCB and seemed to fix it. I can't make it shut off with my probing anymore.

Being that the ribbon cable is so short and very rigid, I can see that being an issue over time. Funny thing is, the very next amp was a Peavey with the exact same problem, bad solder joint on a PCB ribbon connector.
