  • Danelectro Centurion Model 272 Series E Output Issues

This 2 channel with tremolo amp has intermittent output.

This amp has two chassis. Preamp on top and power amp on bottom. There is an octal plug that connects them. They are grounded to each other via the shield of the RCA signal feed cable.

This amp had been serviced recently then purchased on Reverb.

I cannot find a schematic for this model so I am using a Centurion 275 schematic attached, focusing on the output tubes.

Sometimes if I chopstick around the output tubes pins 4 and 5, I can make it come and go.

Tubes test good, Sockets cleaned and pin sockets tightened. Wobbling tubes does not change anything.

What I find odd is that the output tube grid pin 5 is not directly connected to the .01 coupling caps, there is a 390K resistor in between. See last image below that I drew.

Hoping to find a proper schematic and opinions on the issue and wiring.

    Thank you, Mark

Cathode resistor typo. If you can make it work at times, sounds like a bad connection.

      I wouldn't trust that schematic ... 270k cathode resistor?
The phono connector is a likely suspect.
Support for Fender, Laney, Marshall, Mesa, VOX and many more. https://jonsnell.co.uk
If you can't fix it, I probably can.

Touched up numerous solder spots. In the end it appeared to be a loose ground wire (a missed solder connection) connecting to the 6AU6 tube.

        Thank you all!
