  • Carvin r1000 fan not working

I've got this Carvin r1000 where the fan does not kick on. This is a gigging amp run hard 4-5 hrs at a time. i used a bench supply and the fan does work. Where would be a good location to just wire the fan always on?

    Thanks,
    nosaj

I'm not seeing the fan on the schematic- only "fan ground". Am I missing it, or is it not there?

H12.1 and H12.B is the fan connection
H13.A and H13.b is not used.

I see a -12V regulator and Q301 off the -24V line. This would be where the fan supply comes from. First make sure the -24 supply is up and working and that something isn't loading it down. You want to make sure the regulator and transistor aren't shorting the supply to ground. Is there a voltage rating printed on the fan?

Edit: I understand you just want the fan to run all the time, but I'd first make sure that -24V supply isn't shorted. You don't want a short to do more damage to the amp.

So, what is bad in that circuit.
The 7912 should provide -12Vdc for the fan.

I'd be surprised if there is not some kind of thermal tracking that also triggers the protection circuits (relays?).
What are T1 and T2 ahead of IC A20 ?

Voltage good. Pin connector bad connection. Now running full time.
