Genz Benz GBE400 GBE600 Neo400 Protect light on repair

I just got done repairing a Genz Benz GBE-400 bass amp that was in protect. Checking power and grounds I found that there was no +15V on closer inspection it seems that one leg of the TIP31C transistor was broken off. this seems to be a common fault. I have seen mention of this on the web elsewhere. The regulators and transistors are mounted to a large aluminum plate circled in the photo and there is not much support and what support it has is pretty flimsy. so it wiggles and eventually the leads break off.

That is the first thing to check for damage, anything fixed to a heavy object ,(also heavy coils, transformers and capacitors) can suffer this way as well.
