  • Orange OR80 1996 choke dead

I have a 1996 Orange OR-80. Which the Choke is dead.
It is a Drake 1471-440 that is impossible to obtain. I don't know the H, mA and Ohm. Does anyone know the inductance and mA?
Could I get something from Hammond or European supplier?

The choke feeds only the G2 on the pair of EL34s and ECC83s. No real power required.
Nominally a 5H 100mA will do what you require.
I woukd find out why it failed, repair your fault and fit something like this; https://modulusamplification.com/cho...00w-3278-p.asl or https://modulusamplification.com/ac3...0ma-3265-p.asp
Support for Fender, Laney, Marshall, Mesa, VOX and many more. https://jonsnell.co.uk
If you can't fix it, I probably can.

The amp have quad EL34 and two ECC83s. Is only 100mA enough?

From the datasheet 4xEL34s draw a total screen current of 100mA at full output before clipping. Add around 6mA for small tubes.
I expect screen current to increase with clipping.
Best look for a 120mA to 150mA choke.
100W Marshalls use either a 3H/250mA or a 5H/120mA choke. Both will work. DCR is not critical.

If your OR80 has four EL34s it is an OR120 or has been modified by removing the covers from the spare IO sockets and fitting an extra pair of EL34s. OR80s are wired as OR120s just the extra pair of output valves are not fitted.
Fit a larger choke, as in the OR120.

A schematic would solve any guess work.
