I've got an Ampeg J-12 in for repair. A prior repair shop had changed the 6BK11 preamp tubes to 6K11's. Unfortunately one of the 3 preamp stages in each 6K11 tube has a much lower gain than 6BK11's, which has caused problems in the amp. I can't find 6BK11's anywhere at any price, but I did a little research and believe 6C10's would work. These are hard to find also, I think I read somewhere these were used in the Rivera-era Fender SuperChamps. Anyone have a source for a couple of these tubes?

By some chance, did you e-mail me today about this? I got an e-mail looking for 6BK11's. I do have two NOS in stock, but have NO idea where to get more. The well seemingly has run dry.

6C10's worked as 6BK11 replacements in Ampeg Jet
jrfrond, it wasn't me who emailed you looking for 6BK11's - I was searching for 6C10's to validate that they are good replacements in an Ampeg. You should hang onto those, they are in scarce supply and very expensive.
Update: I followed Enzo's suggestion and went Googling for 6C10's. Found a couple online tube suppliers, but they never responded to my calls, so I took a risk and went the eBay route. I needed both preamp tubes because someone had swapped in two 6K11's which are pin compatible, but one of their three triode elements has a much lower gain than the other two.
For Ben N, the good news is that 6C10's are a good substitute for 6BK11's in these older Ampeg amps. I installed them and the amp is working fine, including the tremelo.

6BK11 = 12-pin Compactron
drewl - they are the short, fat, 12-pin "Compactron" tubes.
My search experience was that you can find 6BK11's for $40-50 and the 6C10's go for $25-35. My client needed two, and was sensitive to price (he had previously paid another shop for the pair of incorrect tubes), so I went with the 6C10's.
