  • The Twin PT- again?

So, I recieved the replacement power trans for a red knob twin and it's p/n# B-026554....the 100v export version.
Unless my friend who ordered it is an idiot, is this what they have for a replacement?

And of course Enzo mentioned this in another thread....so what's the best way to use this one without it frying?
Wire it up like the 100v?

Did you order by description or by part number? Did they send the wrong thing? Or was the wrong thing ordered? Possible exchange?

If you apply 120v to the 100v primary, it won;t hurt it, but all your secondary voltages will now be 20% higher.
Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

If it's the same one we just got, it is a 100-220-240 volt primary export version. It's the only one that Fender has in stock for that amp.

I didn't do the install, but I suggested to the tech that did, to wire the two 240 volt primaries in parallel and tape off the white 100 volt tap. As far as I know, the amp was up and running ok.

Great thanks Bill, per the schem that would be BLk and Blk/GN to line and BLK/R and BLK/Y to neutral...
Do you still have the other one you worked on that was getting warm?
Does it have the stock tranny or this export version??????
Remember I had one that was really hot? I'm wondering if it had this export tranny.
Oh well, I'll have to check some more and see.
maybe that's why they get hot, or they're really pushing the stock tranny.

I checked with the tech that installed the new transformer, he said it ran for 1/2 hour without any signs of overheating. Biased up properly and sounded good.

Both of these boat anchors had the original 120v transformers installed. This one was doa when it came in, with the open primary, so I don't know if the transformer died due to heat related problems or not.

The other one had lots of bad solder joints causing a multitude of problems. I The transformer didn't seem to get hot, or at least it was no hotter than the rest of the amp was.

              just a wild hunch.
Who knows how many of these are out there, and 3 or so with open primaries isn't a whole lot.....or is it
