Fender Deluxe Reverb b/f gives no sound

Hi, I have an original Fender DR blackface (1965?) which been standing on a loft for years but now I decided to blow new life into the old lady. Shit happens that it doesnt give a sound, not even a hiss! Ive noticed that the speaker - a Celestion G12H - works OK and all tubes glow and get warm although the rectifier GZ34 gets hot - doesnt seem right, eh. One thing that puzzles me is that the tubes glow even with the fuses out, but then Im not really an amp expert!!

Before I take it to an amp repair place Id be really greatful should anyone have a clue to this problem. Could it be the rectifier tube? I can imagine the main caps also needs replacing since the cover shield is lined by dried-out electrolyte.

If you see White powder around the filter caps they are toast. If they are the brown paper type they need replacing and could be the problem. Which fuses are you talking about ? There should only be one and that is the mains fuse. If it works with it out you have a wiring problem. I'd send it to the local tech and have him give you an estimate. I charge $30 to do this and if I do the repairs that goes toward it. Well worth it for an amp of that caliber. It's one of if not my favorite amp.

Thanks for your quick response. The caps are the old original paper types so they diffinitely needs replacing. The amp has two fuses accesible on the back; one 315 and one 200 mA. This is the european "export" version so the fuse set may be different from the american version. I also noticed a fuse on the board inside in connection with the ruby on/off lamp. The amp has not been rewired or in anyway modified since it I last played on it some six years ago. . . Thanks for your repair offer; would make use of it if Baton Rouge was a drive up the road from Copenhagen.

Now that you mention it I think I've seen one of those with the two fuses and those exact values but I don't think it was a Deluxe. Good luck at it and post back after the cap job.

Yes, it could be the rectifier tube. If the rectifer tube is dead, you won't have any high voltage to the tubes, so nothing will happen when you take the amp off of standby. Tubes lighting up on standby means that your filament voltage is working. Borrow a rectifier tube from a buddy to see if it fixes the amp.
