Can't catch a break with this amp... before the plastic in one of my input jacks disintegrated, the amp was working perfectly well... I took the jacks from channel 1 and 2 out to replace them as they all looked pretty brittle and figured I might as well take care of them all at once. While I had both jacks out, a guitarist friend came over and turned on the amp, not realizing I was working on it - the amp was only on for a few seconds, producing a loud buzz and creating what my friend reported to be a "slight smell of smoke"... aside from the jacks, everything else was connected properly.
Upon reconnecting the input jacks and testing things out, I get weak, distorted sound through all channels and inputs - the chorus, reverb, vibrato, and distortion all work, the volume and tone controls all work, it's just that the basic sound isn't right. Any ideas on what might have been fried by being turned on with the jacks and wiring disconnected?! I've looked over the board with a quick visual inspection and there aren't any burned leads, blown/bulging caps, etc... it's the old USA made JC-120. Help!!!
