  • Peavey Classic 50 Lead Channel not working

The clean channel works great, but the lead channel has no sound at all. I checked the switch and connecting wires, and they are fine/continuous. Also if someone could explain how the lead channel works by looking at the schematic that would be very helpful. The schematic can be found at the blue guitar website. Thanks

P.S. Here is a link to the schematic

Are you saying the amp switches over and then you have no sound ?
If it wont switch at all then you need to check the footswitch jack. It has a shorting contact to ground. If this is open, it wont switch with the panel switch.
Otherwise I would swap pre amp tubes and if that didn't help you'll need to grab a volt meter to check some voltages on the pre amp tubes. If your not familiar with the inside of an amp I recommend taking it to a repair shop.
There are some lethal voltages inside the amp and they can zap your buns.

Yep first thing to sub is that middle pre-amp tube (the second one in from the input jack end) - that is V2 and it runs both OD gain stages. Stick a subsitute one in and if that doesn't work and you're not savvy with a soldering iron, I'd take it to a tech.
