  • Big Problem With My Silvertone 1484 Twin Twelve Head

The caps on my old Silvertone 1484 "Twin Twelve" head needed replacing so I thought I'd do it myself. Well apparently I installed one of the caps backwards so the polarity was mismatched. It powered on for a brief second and then that was it. I took it to a local tube amp repairman who noticed what I did wrong but still hasn't been able to fix it. He says that it's "drawing current" which apparently is not a good thing. I was wondering if anyone out there might have some idea what the problem and maybe the solution is? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Your backwards cap probably destroyed a rectifier diode. Check those 1N3194s for shorted. A plain old 1N4007 will work fine as a replacement.
