  • Fender M-80 chorus OD Channel Squeal

    Hey guys,
I just purchased a M-80 chorus head that was in dire shape. I basically found the power amp side blown. Got thru all that. It powers up and the clean channel is great. BUT....Once you engage the OD channel you get a hum and a mad squeal even at low volume. I used to have one of these back in the day and remember it wasnt the quietest amp on the OD channel but this is crazy. Can anyone chime in on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

No responses? Man, this is great. Update. Without a guitar hooked up to it the amp squeals. But this is only on the right channel, if I hook the speakers to the left side it works great. Well, except for the chorus doesnt work. It only works on the left channel and it sounds almost like an inverted signal.

    Thanks

It can be so many things.

Ther are two power amps, one per speaker. Normally both play the same thing. When chorus is on, one plays the normal signal and one plays the chorused signal. That is why it so0unds funy with one channel out.

        Hello,
question is the speaker channel that is squealing the same one that you mentioned you repaired and what did you have to replace to get it working. Usually we look at the last thing we did to be certain we didn't create the new problem...glen
