  • advice on yamaha EM 150II?

My old Yamaha stereo mixer cuts out occasionally (no sound) on one or both channels (L and R). When this happens, if I momentarily crank up the volume really high and hit a note, the sound comes right back. Does this sound familiar to any of you experts out there? Thanks.

Yes. It sounds like bad patch jack contacts. It sounds liek thesame exact thing as when a guitar amp cuts in and out because the effects return jack is dirty.

My Yamaha shelf is buried, so without looking, are there some POWER AMP IN jacks? Or inserts? Any jack in the master section that can interrupt the signal path warrants inspection. The little contacts that open when you plug into it need to be clean so when they come together they make good contact.

of course it could be something totally different.
Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.
