Hey everyone, wondering if anyone has some good recommendations for a digital compact scope? I will be using it for amp circuit testing all the way down to effects circuits. Just thought I would hit you all up and see if anyone had a good recommendation for my first compact scope. My budget is no higher than 400 dollars but would like to buy new if thats possible. Thanks!

My first thought was , "Why DIGITAL?" $400 these days buys a nice enough scope brand new in the box with a warranty. it would be analog, but so what's wrong with analog? Check out the Tenma brand scopes at MCM Electronics.
I just got an ad flyer from LeCroy. They now have a nice looking little scope for under $1000. I am so tempted.
Guys come in here all the time boasting of the wonderful old scope they got at a ham fest or on ebay for $25.Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

Thanks guys, these are all great suggestions! I would pick up an older scope on ebay or hamfest but I must admit I am after the warranty if possible. Right now I am dealing with a HP 120a and frankly, it is the size of a modest 412 cabinet on its back!(well not quite) I need to consolidate my workbench and make room for other doo-dads and such. I will do a little more research and try and figure what the best option is here but I am leaning toward that Ted Weber link. Thanks again for your suggestions! ... Enzo, just buy the damn scope from Lecroy, you only live once! Besides, with how much help you are around here, you deserve to treat yourself man.

MY $.02 on scopes.
I have a HP 1746A and a Agilent 546xx series and I didn't pay more than $300 for the 546xx. I would buy the U1602A if I had the money. You don't have to worry about ground isolation with these hand held series - very portable too. Some might not like the small display though - I'm getting old.
I have to say that the HP/Agilent scopes are $$ but they are well designed and reliable.
