  • Need help with marshall 6100

    Hi folks,

I'm new to this forum and I wantet to ask help for a problem with my marshall anniversary 6100.
Some time ago a valve was burnt and I replaced all four. But anyhow the amp does not give any sound ... all lights are on and the valves seem to be alright as well. Could it be the main fuse?

    cheers&thanks

Fuses are the best place to start. Schematic shows 2 fuses on the incoming AC power and 4 or 5 inside the amp. Also check that the plug/socket cable connectors are tightly connected. I've never been into one of these amps. It appears that there are several "connectors" between different parts of the circuit.

      thanks for the answer!

i see three fuses from the outside 2 have signal lamps but they dont light up, and another one which i guess is the main fuse... i will check that one for first before opening the amp... all i have to do now is to check which fuse is the right one for the amp... does marshall use always the same fuses?

I wonder if one of the two AC fuses is inside the body of an IEC socket???

not sure if you have this type of power cable connection. If you do, there's a small fuse inside, accessible from the outside. Not a picture of your amp, I know.

              Thanks Gunny

Yes, it looks like that pic. I found the users manual for the amp...

in the end you see the back panel and the fuses its very similiar to the pic you posted... do you know what kind of fuse goes with this head?

from the schematic for the power supply http://www.drtube.com/schematics/mar...6100-65-04.pdf

                there's a 20 mm fuse rated 5A (T5A) and a 20 mm fuse T2A (2 Amp for 230 Vac operation) or T4A (4 Amp for 115 Vac operation).

To confirm what you need, unscrew the cap from the conventional fuseholder and see what's inside...and see if it's blown. Similarly, pry open the fuseholder built into the power plug and check out the fuse that's in there.
