  • Adding standby

So, I need to add a standby switch on an Orange amp.
Which way do you think is best, switch both the high voltage AC windings between the power trans and the rectifiers, or the easy way of simply breaking the DC at the high voltage fuse?
    Thanks.

Either way will work. (I see Mr valve wizard prefers lifting both sides of the winding with a SPDT). I prefer lifting the HT CT (if there is one) myself.

The only problem with this one is it has a neon power light that takes high voltage DC from across one of the filter caps, so it won't light until the standby is witched on.

Why does it "need" a standby switch?

Does the neon light have a resistor in series? Rewire the neon light to run off the AC on the amp side of the power switch.

It doesn't, but the customers always right....right?

Disconnect the centre tap of the output transformer.
