  • Traynor Custom Valve 80 problem

I have a YCV80 2-12, which sounds fine in the normal channel. Switching to the high-gain channel, however, actually cuts the volume, and the bottom end seems to disappear. Quick visual inspection notes that all tubes are lit, no obvious mechanical problems. I'm trying to find a schematic online elsewhere.

If anyone's experienced a similar problem, or has an idea of where to start looking, please gimme a shout.

    Thanks,

Try swapping the pre amp tubes 1 by 1 with a known good tube. If that fails then check the voltages on the pre amp tubes could be a bad screen res.

        Thanks!

        Izzy,

Thanks for the response. I'd planned on taking a couple known-good AX7s over there Sunday morning and will try replacing the first two one at a time. I'll go look at the schematic and see what THAT says.
