Hello,
I am restoring a Harmony 303a. I have gone through this amp entirely, but I am still getting a slight distortion on the attack of chords and then it fizzles out. The amp does overdrive nicely, but this initial distortion should not be there. Here is the work I have done so far:
Added 3 prong power cord
replaced all caps
replaced every resistor
replaced 2 tube sockets
tried 3 different sets of NOS tubes
added a speaker jack and have tried multiple speakers
bypassed the input jacks to see if they were the problem
The filter caps actually seem fine. I have alligator clipped additional filtering with no luck on solving this problem.
I can't think of anything else to do except replace the volume/on off potentiometer, the isolation transformer or power transformer. Does anyone have any ideas? Or is this amp so low wattage that it will always fart out on attack?
Thanks!
Max
