    Thanks guys! I'm about to jump back in a see if I can get the trimmers working smoother.

      Went through the calibration procedure. Then went through it again from the start to get it as dialed as I could.
      Spraying the trimmers didn't really help them. Seems more of a circuit imbalance (resistor drift?) than the trimmers cause the trimmers on the horizontal amp/sweep generator board did dial in very smoothly and easily.
      Now that I understand the workings of the circuits better I may go back and see if I can balance out the vertical amp but for now it is working very nicely.

        Great job! Another one saved from "bad power transformer" syndrome.

        That's the good thing about buying Heath equipment, the manuals will always help get it fixed.
