What type of shielded grid wires are you guys using on repairs and builds? I haven't been able to find a small enough sheilded wire around town so I was hoping for some guidance.

I use the stuff that cheap and nasty audio cables are made of. You know the RCA jack leads you get for connecting hi-fi components together. I have a few broken ones lying around and I just snip pieces off.
RG-174 miniature coax is nicer, but it's more difficult to strip and solder. The cheesy audio stuff has a lapped screen that separates easily, and a PVC dielectric that doesn't melt so readily as "real" coax."Enzo, I see that you replied parasitic oscillations. Is that a hypothesis? Or is that your amazing metal band I should check out?"

Around town you probably mainly find rubber jacketed coax cable. Inside you can use a bunch of things. I like cable meant for in the wall or behind the panel use - the kind with the foil shields. Very simple to use. Belden 8451 or similar.
In places wher I wanted thin cable I have a hank of lapel mic cable - very thin and very flexible, and easy to strip.
And another source of small signal shielded cable is consumer audio stuff. A dead cassette deck will have shielded cables from the heads to the circuit board, and other gear often has lengths of shielded for transporting signal around inside. Old VCRs for example.Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.
