I'm new here, but not new to tube amps. I found this board from searching for an answer to my question, and this looks like a great place to hang out.
Anyway, I recently got a Fender TV Deluxe 5B3 to replace one I stupidly sold years ago. No issues with the amp, except that the output transformer is not original, and appears to be a generic replacement, not a tube amp part. From the looks of it, it looks like it's been there for some time. The OT primary impedance is 4K.
I installed a "tweed deluxe" OT from Mojo, and while it now has more punch, that OT has a primary impedance of 8K. However, I thought that the primaries on the original Triad OT's in those early tweeds were around 6K.
This is not a major deal, the amp sounds fine but I'd like to get it back as close to stock as possible.
Questions:
1) Can anyone tell me exactly what the specs might have been for the stock OT in the 5A3, 5B3?
2) If the 8K Mojo is not correct, what are the recommended sources for a more appropriate replacement OT?
Thanks!
