Peavey TubeFex Pre Amp Error Codes???

I have a TubeFex Pre Amp that hasn't been turned on in a few years. When powered up would do anything, the display stayed at the start up and the control LED's wouldn't light up. Also the 3.6v memory battery was leaking a little.

So I just replaced the 3.6v battery, now only the far right control knob LEDs are on and the display is reading…

Memory Bits Failed Mask: 02FFFF

Anyone have a master list of error codes for the Peavey TubeFex? I downloaded the Manual but it didn’t have a trouble shooting section.

That is the sort of thing you get from Peavey - call customer service. But what you really need to ask them is what the initialization procedure is. it will be something simple like hold down two or three buttons while you apply power. That will clear the memory and re-install the factory data.

In fact, I just looked, and right there in the owners manual table of contents is:
"The first time you turn it on (reinitialization)" Page 15 of the pdf.


Hold the DOWN/DEC arrow and the RIGHT arrow while you turn on the power.

See if that doesn;t clear the issues.

I guess I'll call Peavey in the morning.

They have some sharp folks there. But I will be surprised if an error code translation is a lot of help. If the battery was leaking, the stuff from it can be all but invisible, but it is conductive. ANd especially if any of it wicked under any of the ICs, it can cause lots of trouble.

For example if the checksum in the program ROM doesn;t come out right, then what? Does it mean the ROM is bad? Does it mean the socket under the ROM has failed? is there an address line to it that has failed? Of course having said that, they might tell you that your code means somethig specific. But don;t hold your breath.

When one of their keyboards come in with a leaked battery, I usually just pull the CPU board and send it to them. In my shop there is darn little we will send out for any reason, but those I do. The factory cleans them up like new, and often as not they just put all new parts on it, and the cost was very reasonable.

***Update***

A Peavey Tech got back with me. He said "They don't have a Master List of error codes." But the Tech had said he has worked on many Tubefex amps in the past and told me it's D.O.A
