  • Marshall PROBLEMO!

Please excuse my electronic ignorance, I have a Marshall MG100HDFX and can't seem to figure out why the thing keeps blowing fuses. The power transformer readings are normal. A friend of mine says the output chip(connected to heatsink) or power supply diodes are blown. What is the heatsink and also, what do the diodes look like? again....please excuse this ignorance, I just need help!!!!!! Awesome amp when it works

If you have to ask these questions, I really think you should refer this repair to someone who knows what's what. I don;t mean that unkindly, but if you don;t know what the basic parts look like, it will be extremely hard to direct you to troubleshoot the circuit and then make repairs. This is going to require soldering parts on the circuit boards.

A heat sink is any piece of metal used to help dissipate heat. Yours I believe will have a fan attached to it. Your output modules are almost certainly blown. Those are the thing mounted by their tab and having about 15 legs coming out the bottom. It will be a small circuit board connected down to the main board by a group of wires in a row.

It is the six diodes under the fx chipboard that are blown, I believe these to be the power supply diodes............only the writing isn't readable anymore and the value is un-clear. I just need to know the value(s) of those six diodes now. A mind and everything around it can perish due to a lack of knowledge and understanding.

I have no idea what is under the FX board. What part designations are printed on the circuit board? D6, D&? D10, D11? Those two groups of four are all 1N4007. But I don;t see a group of six diodes in the schematic.

                MG 100 diodes

The power supply "diode" is KBU10A.
It is a single package bridge rectifier.
