In a different thread. I have explored the Behringer Opto's in depth. it seems Behringer stole the Ampeg design which uses a Vactrol VTL5C7 which has a specific resistance/light curve. the 5C1 will not reduce the gain enough as the on resistance is too high. or at least a lot higher then what a 5C7 will be. so while it may work, it may not work well enough.
Also pay close attention. the boards are generally labeled with a + for the + side of the LED. make sure you get the Vactrol connected correctly.
