  • simple, but i need HELP AMPEG 115 amp

hey i recently bought this ampeg 115 amp. it works well there are no problems except-

sometimes the sound cuts out. i think the actual input jack has something wrong with it, where if the bass cable isnt getting picked up.

the prongs or something inside the input maybe are too wide or got widened somehow and maybe this could be why it cuts out.

the vibrations from the drums may be enough to move the chord slightly so that the amp doesn't pick it up.

like i said, the amp works fine, it is just that i have to loop the cable under the amps handle and make sure it remains in that locked position so that it doesnt move, otherwise the sound cuts out,

this forum has helped me before and i am extremely thankful for any advice or answers

    Hi,
I read days ago on a similar thread that enzo had to change more than a few jack sockets on these amps....( I'd check the send/return sockets as well, if any). I think all is due to the poor quality of current production plastic jack sockets ( my '64 AC30 has Bakelite/metal jack sockets in it and they're still in perfect working order after 45 years ).

Another good thing to do is to check the PCB for cracked/bad solder joints in the jack socket(s) area(s), especially if the amp is new or of recent build ( "RoHS compliant" solder has a tendency to crack, being more brittle ).

    HTH

    Best regards

    Bob
