A quick thanks to all the folks here who have posted repair tips regarding the Fender Hot Rod amps. I had a friend of a friend bring me his HR Deluxe because it was making popping noises and losing volume. I remembered reading here about some common problems with them. After a quick search and read, I had my answer. Sure enough one of the 470 ohm, 5 watt resistors had a bad solder joint. And every single power tube pin on both sockets had cracked solder joints! Amazing!
So, you may not know it but you helped me out. Thanks!
