Fender 65 DRRI "squelching" noises . .

2002 Fender 65 DRRI. New power tubes but after warming up for 5 minutes or so and with all the controls on 0 starts to make squelching noises. Noise starts quiet, gets louder (you'd definitely hear it if you were miked up over the PA), stops, come back. Turn amp off and then on again straight away and 2 minutes later the whole thing starts again. Anybody had a similar problem or got any ideas? Many Thanks . . . .

Welcome to the board.

This could be any number of things, tubes, resistors, caps, transformer, etc. It obviously is heat related, as it takes a little time for it to start.

If you pull the driver tube does it kill the noise? If it does, then it will limit the search to the driver and pre-amp sections. If the noise continues, then look at the power amp section.
