Hi everyone,... I have a GA 30 RV that isn't as loud as it should be. I replaced the output transformer (because I happened to have one anyway) and the problem didn't change. I got monkeying around and realized that the problem is actually in the pre-amp side. The preamp circuit sounds fine and the reverb and eq's etc works as expected... it's just that the output is very weak (not distorted or anything). If I go out of the line output of the pre, to different outboard power amp, same thing, still weak (indicating it's not the power amp side). There is a rather conspicuous heat sinked power transister on the board. The 4 black rectifiers on the pre board are fairly hot to the touch (is that normal ?). I don't have a tube checker (and besides,... there are actually two pre amp stages and both are weak, and each has a separate tube,... so I don't think that's it)... someone know these amps well ?. Sincere thanks in advance for any ideas you might have... best, jim
