  • Fender Acoustasonic Junior - What is wrong with my spring reverb?

    Hey guys,

This is my first post here. I was pointed to this forum after I explained my problem on another. I have a Fender Acoustasonic Junior amp. Not the one with the DSP effects, but the earlier version, with spring reverb.

When I turn up the master reverb, all I hear is a bunch of crackling, popping, static noise. I popped the amp out the back of the enclosure to take a look for any loose wires around the reverb tank and couldn't see anything. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks a lot,
    Jason

Probably a bad reverb pan. Pull the thing out and look inside it. Are the long springs intact? With the amp running, brush the springs with your fingers. Does the sound come out loud and clear or does it have that crackly sound?

With the amp running and the reverb control up some, pull the plug from the jack on the reverb pan marked OUTPUT, and touch the tip of the plug. You should hear a loud hum from the speaker just as if you were touching the tip of your guitar cord plug. it is an ugly hum, but does it come out like it should or does it sound low and crackly?
Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.
