  • Stupid mistake on my Ampeg B-25

That is with a capital "S" by the way. So I have this B-25 that is in pretty good shape, except for the PCB. It was un-usable. So I am just going point to point, per the schematic. I have V1 and V2 complete, and part of the tone stacks. I just noticed I have the coupling caps on the wrong side of the plate resistors. It would be more accurate to say I have the plate resistors on the wrong side of the coupling caps.
Guess it will take me about an hour to rewire them. It's funny (not very) how you can look at something for so long, and not see that it is wrong. Then of course, all of a sudden it is very clear. I suppose this is how we learn. I will definitely remember this one for awhile. Sorry to have interrupted you guys from the proper fixing of things.

You will not be the first or last person to miswire something. And it can happen to a novice or an experienced pro.

When someone sends me something to fix, I want to know if they did any wiring. Not because I want to know what they did so much, but more to be on guard that I cannot trust that the circuit as is ever worked.
Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.
