  • Old Fender Blues Deluxe

I have an old Fender Blues Deluxe (Not a reissue, 180w, Type PR 246, Model T-060903) that I bought off someone a few years ago. Never had any issues with it. Always loved the sound... But recently I started having trouble with it. It randomly switches channels, but when it does it produces no sound. Not even a hum (until it switches back that is). I cannot change the channel myself when it does it. And it does this whether my guitar is plugged in or not.

I know VERY little about amps. I want to just take it in to get repaired, but I'm hesitant. I want an idea before I talk to a tech... And on top of that, I know how to use a soldering iron, so if it's an easy fix I'd do it myself. I don't have amp repair in the budget right now.

Could I get some ideas? What could be causing the problem?

    Thanks in advance!

This is a well-known problem with the Blues and Hot Rod Deluxe series. Do a forum search for "Blues Deluxe channel switching" and you'll need the whole day to read it all.
The repair is not complicated at all, but getting the board out is something for an experienced tech.
